For the second year in a row, St. Andrew's Sewanee School will be performing at the TASTE and Tennessee State Thespian Conference at MTSU in January. This year, Performing Arts Director Dr. Will Eyerly submitted "Izzy Icarus Fell Off the World" by Aliza Goldstein. This award-winning one-act play is an engaging tale of an unlikely friendship blossoming between two high school students, a curious and kind girl with a passion for photography named Dove, and Izzy, a mysterious boy with high-functioning autism.
The play features the hard work and talent of Dylan Bruscato as Izzy, Eliza Griffey as Paige, Kendall Elder as Dove and Luke Bostelman as Mr. Ackerman, Izzy's dad.
The play will be performed in the Deborah K. Anderson Studio Theatre on the Middle Tennessee State University campus at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025. Additionally, four performing arts students will be adjudicated in the musical theatre category by faculty from 27 colleges and universities from across 10 states for all state honors. These hardworking and talented students are Ella Johnson, Eliza Griffey, Hannah Hardin, and Margeaux Pierson. In all, a total of 19 SAS performing arts students will be attending the festival this year.
International Thespian Society Troupe #11474 was chartered and sponsored at SAS beginning last year by Performing Arts Director, Will Eyerly.
