Vernon Dale Olin, 76, went home to be with his Savior on November 30, 2024, at 4:45 p.m. while at home, surrounded by his family.

Vernon was born to Jim and Fern Olin in Greeley, Co., and grew up in Platteville. He attended Colorado State University and graduated in Construction Management. While stationed in Virginia with the army, Vernon met his sweetheart of 52 years, Mickey G. Durham and fell head over heels. After marriage, their life adventure had them in Westminster, Co.; Frisco, Co.; Manassas, Va.; Lakeland, Fl.; Hollywood, Fl.; Kennesaw, Ga.; Charlotte, NC; Asheville, NC; and Ootlewah.

He worked as a commercial project manager with several companies throughout his career and made an impact in every location. He used his skills to serve others through his church, building ramps and on trips with disaster relief. His heart for others overflowed and he was so generous with his time, energy, wisdom, talents, and resources. He enjoyed hunting mainly for the still quiet time in the woods with his hunting buddies. Retirement didn't slow him down. He took time to go work alongside his son and partner, Brad, on their rental properties and jumping into all projects daughter, Monica, threw at him. He loved serving at the Apison Food Bank and even jumped back in during his illness a few times. He was an avid sports fan when it came to his grandchildren and would show up to as many school events as possible. He also loved all his friends. The smile that it would bring when his people were around was one that will not be forgotten. During Vernon’s leukemia journey over the past year, he wanted to always be sure those who served him knew the Lord loved them. His desire was that those around him could share in the hope he had in his Savior.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Mickey; son, Brad and wife April; daughter, Monica and husband Chad; grandchildren Emma, Caroline, Anabella, Stephen, Seth, Josiah, and Amaris; his mother, Fern and numerous extended family that he loved dearly.

Vernon was preceded in death by father, James; brother, Robert; sister, Wilma; Parents-in-Love, Charles and Rose.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
