Tennessee Men’s Health Network, Mt. Canaan Baptist Church and Purpose Point Community Health are partnering to host the 2024 Chattanooga Men’s Health Summit. The event will take place on Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m.-1p.m. at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, 4801 Hwy. 58. There is no charge for the event that will feature health discussions, screenings, various vendors and door prizes.
“Men living in Tennessee die at higher rates from nine out of the top ten leading causes of death,” said Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr.
“It is crucial that our churches take a leadership role in population health, especially in communities that are the most at-risk. It is the church’s job as an advocate of health to promote special events like the Summit to men and their families.”
“Tennessee men are some of the unhealthiest in the nation,” said Mike Leventhal, executive director of TMHN. “We eat too much, smoke too much, and we do not exercise enough. Through the Chattanooga Men’s Health Summit, we hope to raise awareness for men’s health, learn more about specific health conditions and encourage all men to schedule an appointment with their physician. Everyone knows that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
