The Covenant College men's tennis team had a busy weekend with a pair of games. The Scots went 1-1, with their win coming in conference action.
Game 1 Final: Covenant 1, Asbury 8 Ben Onufrock and Austrin Dreslinski sent the No. 1 ranked match to a tiebreak but fell 7-8 (6-8) to Nacho Ardiles and Franco Patino. Gill Dunn and Solomon Crouch also were defeated in the No. 2 slot, 3-8 to Andres Carere and Ben Moore. Asbury earned the doubles sweep as Caleb Domkowski and Camden Lashley were beaten 4-8 to Gregorio Bustingorri and Alejandro Caceres.
Onufrock earned Covenant's lone point with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Caceres in the No. 1 slot. Dreslinski fought hard, but was defeated in the No. 2 position 6-4, 2-6, 0-1 (5) by Patino. Domkowski was upended by Moore 2-6, 2-6. Crouch gave it a good shot, but fell in the No. 4 slot 5-7, 4-6 to Ardiles.
In the No. 5 ranked match, Dunn lost to Caceres 3-6, 3-6. Brock Boehling fell victim to a 3-6, 2-6 loss to Nacho Murillo.
Game 2 Final: Covenant 9, LaGrange 0. Onufrock and Dreslinski didn't skip a beat in the No. 1 position, winning 8-0 over Whitt Sam and Jordan Grissan. Winning 8-2 in the No. 2 slot was Solomon Crouch and Gill Dunn over Nic Boch and Mike Strydom. Covenant earned the doubles sweep as Domkowski and Lashley were victorious 8-3 over Kyle Moore and Connor Golden.
Onufrock swept Strydom 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 ranked match. Dreslinski did the same thing as Onufrock against Moore, winning 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 2 slot. Boehling was tested in the No. 3 position, but defeated Boch 6-4, 6-2.
Graham Hayes cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Whitt in the No. 5 ranked match. In the final match, Jacob Eldridge secured the perfect day for the Scots with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Golden.
Covenant takes on Asbury at home on Friday at 3 p.m.
