Union Math At Volkswagen

  • Thursday, April 18, 2024

I wonder if the people who are so anxious to get the UAW in at VW have paused to do the math….

Number of employees: 4,000.

Average hourly rate starts at $23.42 and goes to $32.40. Average between the two: $27.91 per hour.

Number of hours of pay that will go to union dues 2.5 per month or $27.91 x 2.5 = $69.78 per month for each UAW member.

4,000 employees times $69.78 equals $279,100 per month or $3,349,200 per year.

Now….what do you suppose the higher ups in the UAW would do with this $3,349,200 per year?

Oh, and by the way, now that you are a UAW member, you get to pay the union $837.36 per year.

For the entry level people at VW, this represents a 1.7 percent reduction in pay.
