Jean Clark Phillips, 87, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, April 28, 2024.

She was born on Aug. 4, 1936, in Chattanooga, Tn. Her life was one of dedication and service to Jesus Christ. She was a loving mother and grandmother, tireless servant, and blessing to her family and many friends. She graduated from Chattanooga City High School in 1954, attended UTC on a full music scholarship, worked at DuPont for 29 years, and spent her entire life volunteering and serving others. Jean was a member of Hixson Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir. She lived a life full of caring, loving, and giving and was a prayer warrior for many. She considered her family to be her greatest achievement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Phillips; parents, James and Beulah Clark; sister, Edna Clark Crabtree; and beloved grandson, Nicholas Phillips.

Jean is survived by her sons, Jim Phillips (Robin), Mike Phillips, Ken Phillips (Sonia), and her daughter, Nancy Phillips Hutchison (Jeff). She is also survived by her grandchildren Rachel Phillips Petrie (Sam), Noah Phillips; Michael Phillips (Carrie), Matthew Phillips (Tiffany), Sophia Phillips; Emilia Phillips; Jonathan Wallace (Nicole), Jared Wallace (Kristin), Crystal Wallace Solomon (Austin), and Caroline Wallace Self (Brock), and her nieces Susie Crabtree Low and Libby Crabtree Ryon

Jean’s great-grandchildren include Luke, Abby, and Nate Phillips; Hallie Kay, Annie, and Scottie Solomon; and Cameron and Caroline Dayton. She was very excited about three more great grandchildren due this year in August, September, and October.

Please join us as we celebrate Jean’s life in receiving of family and friends on Friday, May 3, from 12-1 p.m. with a 1 p.m. service to follow at Hixson Presbyterian Church, 1450 Jackson Mill Dr., Hixson. The services will be officiated by Steven Edging, assistant pastor of Hixson Presbyterian Church. There will be a private family service at Chattanooga National Cemetery, where Jean will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Bob.

Flowers are welcome, but in lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of her grandson, Nicholas, to the Propionic Acidemia Foundation (www.pafoundation.com) or Children’s Hospital at Erlanger (www.erlangerfoundation.com).
