U.S. Air Force Veteran Held Long Career With Chattanooga Public Works

Robert “Bob” Lewis Gross, 76, of Panama City Beach, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

He was born on January 21, 1948 in Chattanooga. Bob retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. He then worked for the City of Chattanooga in Public Works for many years and moved to Panama City Beach to enjoy retired life! Bob was a die-hard Tennessee Vols fan and loved watching college football and NASCAR. He also enjoyed playing golf, watching live bands and spending time with friends. Bob never passed up a chance to get on the dance floor and was also known as D.B., Grey Ghost, Motor Scooter and Tennessee Bob. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Martin Gross; mother, Evelyn Reynolds; and grandson, Robert Jason Bridges.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Rowen Jean Smith (Ray) and Robin Janel Norwood (Aaron); grandchildren, Calvin Jahmikal Brown (Hannah), Karson Elaine Norwood and Alexus Smith; great-grandchildren, Nige` Fryer and A’Leiya Woodley; sister, Dorothy Sandusky (Jerry).

Friends are welcome to pay their respects at Heritage Shores Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June 20, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Craig Brannon officiating.
