Longtime Secretary Loved The Lord And Will Be Greatly Missed

Glenda Jean Wrinkle Varnell, 80, of Ooltewah, Tn., passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024.

Her parents, Granville and Carzell Varnell preceded her in death.

Glenda loved the Lord. She was of the Baptist faith. Throughout her professional career, Glenda was a secretary for Red Food Warehouse, McKee Foods (in the transportation department) and Blood Assurance, where she retired. After retirement, she enjoyed selling Avon.

Glenda was a breast cancer survivor since 2001. She loved making crafts, gardening, butterflies, playing computer games and doing crossword puzzles. Glenda loved spending time with her family, especially going to both of her granddaughter’s softball games. She loved talking to people wherever she went. Her laughter was contagious and she kept her sense of humor until the very end. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Kellie Wrinkle Dean (Skip), granddaughter, Lexie Marthinsen (Blair) and great-grandson, Maxon Marthinsen, granddaughter, Summer Dean, brother, Larry Varnell (Gwen) all of Ooltewah, nephews, Stephen Varnell (Christy) of Hixson, Paul Varnell of Cleveland, and Michael Varnell (Micky) of Pennsylvania.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, in the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
