Richard Headrick has been a funeral director for nearly 50 years and has served Chattanooga Funeral Home families most of that time.
The Kensington, Georgia native was recently recognized for nearly five decades of service.
Mr. Headrick said, “I’ve always considered it an honor to serve our families, many whom have been my friends for years.”
When asked whose the most famous person he’s buried, Mr. Headrick said “it would have to be Chattanooga baseball legend Joe Engel, who was interred at Forrest Hills Cemetery in St.
Elmo.” Mr. Engel died in 1969.
Mr. Headrick said, “Although I have cut back some, I have no plans to retire; helping families is what I was called to do.”
Chattanooga Funeral Home President Gene Pike said, “Richard is one of the top funeral directors in the country; his faithfulness and dedication is second to none. He helped train many of our employees. We congratulate Richard on his many years of service.”
