Aqua Tigers Claw Cumberland In Season Finale

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — With twice as many double-digit scorers, the Cleveland Aqua Tigers wrapped up the Chattanooga Area Swim League with a blowout victory over Cumberland Monday evening, at the Tinsley Park pool.

Taking the rubber meet of three battles with the Currents, the Aqua Tigers won 10 of the 12 age division and swam away with a 457-330 win.

Both teams will now get ready for the 64th annual Bill Caulkins City Meet Friday and Saturday at the Fort Oglethorpe (Ga.) pool, at Fort Stephenson Park.

Cleveland (2-6) had 24 swimmers reach the double-digit mark in the season finale, including 19 points each from Joseph Scully, Reed Blackmon and Elias Eldred.

Addie Taubert, Teddy Elliott and Kevin Curley helped out with 17 markers apiece, while Caroline Kate Elrod added 16 to the winning tally.

Maddie Peterson, Sophie Hughes, Jaxon Mosley and Nathan Jossart put up 15 points each, while Lee Elliott and Asher Cory notched a baker's dozen (13).

Helping out with a dozen each were Aqua Tigers Morgan Jenkins, Carol Lynn Elliott, Abigail Parrish and Santiago Eldred.

Abby Anglin, Andrew Rutledge and Seraphim McNeese collected 11 markers, while Palmer Blackmon, Logan Gregory, Mark Peterson and Millie Wiseman garners 10 each for the victors.

Cumberland (1-7) had a dozen double-digit scorers, with Lydia Mizutani the lone to post  19 points.

The Currents got 17 markers each from Jude Carpenter, Lola Phipps, James Chartard and Jillian Schuster.

Ingrid Michael, Rosey Hunicutt and David Davenport collected 15 points apiece, while Zach Schurr notched 14.

Ellie Grubbs, Everett Michael and Carter Young rounded out the double-digit tallies with 10 each.
