Chattanooga Mocs men's basketball junior standout Honor Huff has been selected to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Student-Athlete Engagement Group, representing the Southern Conference, ahead of the 2024-25 competition season.
A platform underneath the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Oversight Committee (MBOC) umbrella, the newly implemented student-athlete engagement group was formed with a goal of amplifying student-athlete voices in basketball on key initiatives, legislation and issues.
The group was initially established in 2020 on the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball side before the men's engagement group was created and formed in 2023.
Both engagement groups are made up of one student-athlete representative from each Division I conference and also provides a direct connection to the Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
"I'm grateful to be a part of such a transformative group which allows me to engage and connect with people and topics that are larger than just myself and my institution," said Huff.
He concluded, "I just want to thank the people involved for seeing me as a valuable asset to represent the Southern Conference and its student-athletes. It's truly an honor [no pun intended]."
The 2024 Men's Final Four in Phoenix, Ariz., marked the first year that members of the Division I Men's Basketball Student-Athlete Engagement Group had the opportunity to participate in an on-site event. Members of the engagement group in attendance engaged with Division I Men's Basketball Committee members and NCAA staff, attended a TED talk type of conversation with prominent sports leaders and also connected with NCAA President Charlie Baker.
