Boyd-Buchanan School in Chattanooga has announced the hiring of Sarah Warren-Bowles as the head softball coach of the Buccaneers.
“The Boyd-Buchanan community is excited to welcome home Sarah. She is an outstanding coach who has an extensive collegiate background and had a proven track record of success while at Boyd Buchanan” said Director of Athletics Matt Pobieglo. “Coach Warren-Bowles ability to develop student-athletes and familiarity with Boyd-Buchanan as a graduate and softball standout is a natural choice”.
Warren-Bowles has over fourteen years of collegiate coaching experience and comes to Boyd-Buchanan from Point University where she served as an assistant coach. During her time with the Skyhawks, she surpassed over 300 career wins and assisted in establishing the Point University softball program. While at Point University, Warren-Bowles developed their first All-American selection (Haley Lyner) in school history, had multiple all conference selections, and all academic award winners.
No stranger to success on the softball diamond, Warren-Bowles led the Lady Bucs to three straight
TSSAA spring fling finals appearances (2002-2004). She would then go on to Chattanooga State where she was a member of the Tigers softball program that won 100 of 123 games in two seasons and were ranked in the top ten nationally. She was named as an Academic All American in both seasons. In 2007 she would join the Lee University softball program and she helped guide the Flames to a Southern States Conference Championship.
“I am incredibly thankful to the administration, Dr. Murley, Renee Hood and Matt Pobieglo, at Boyd-
Buchanan School for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to lead the softball program. After being in college athletics for the past fourteen years at Point University, I’m thrilled to be back at Boyd-Buchanan, a place that holds so many memories for me. The opportunity to guide and mentor the next generation of athletes in a community that shaped my own journey is incredibly rewarding. I’m excited to get to work and build a program that our athletes will be proud of—a place where they are excited to put on their uniform and represent BBS. Together, we’ll strive for excellence on and off the field. As always, GO BUCS!”
Warren-Bowles earned her Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Math and Science Education from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga (2009). Warren and her husband Gene Bowles have a son named Warren Bowles.
