James Michael “Mike” O’Quinn, 64, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, passed away on August 4, 2024, surrounded by family and holding the hand of his wife, Karen.
He was born to parents Willa Jean and James O’Quinn on October 8, 1959 in Chattanooga.
Graduating from Red Bank High School, Mike would attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, majoring in Business. An active member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, he would become president of the chapter and loved spending time with his brothers. After college, Mike would go on to a career with General Electric.
He was an avid fisherman, grill master, and fan of the Chattanooga Mocs and Tennessee Vols. Mike cherished any time spent with his wife, Karen, and his daughters, Brittany and Brooke. He also took great joy in being “DaddyO” to his grandchildren- Levi, Hadley, and Everett.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Willa Jean O’Quinn, and his brother, Gregory Wayne O’Quinn.
Mike is survived by his wife, Karen O’Quinn, father, James Wallace O’Quinn, sister-in-law, Jenni O’Quinn, daughters, Brittany Hicks (Jordan), Brooke Mitchell (Jesse), and grandchildren, Levi and Hadley Mitchell, and Everett Hicks. Additional survivors include Louise Ledford, Mary Heard, Carolyn (Theron) Heaton, and many friends and family.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 8, at Chattanooga Funeral Home North on Highway 153. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. with funeral services beginning at noon. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude Amedysis home health, particularly his nurse, Jason and Hospice of Chattanooga for their care. As well as Sigma Chi Fraternity for their unwavering support of a beloved brother, husband, father, and Daddy-O.
