Zorana Mrsic, MD, an Army veteran and board-certified non-invasive cardiologist, has joined Hamilton Physician Group - Cardiology in Dalton.

Dr. Mrsic focuses on preventing and treating a broad spectrum of cardiovascular disease including hypertension, lipid disorders, palpitations and arrhythmia, coronary artery disease, valvular heart diseases, heart failure and cardiomyopathies.

“My favorite part of being a cardiologist is educating patients about cardiovascular diseases so they can be empowered to make healthcare decisions for themselves and their loved ones,” she said.

A graduate of Medical College of Georgia - Augusta University, Dr.
Mrsic completed a residency at D.D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon. She also completed a cardiology fellowship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Md. She also served as chief of cardiology at Womack Army Medical Center in North Carolina from 2022 to 2024.

Dr. Mrsic was born in Bosnia and came to the United States with her parents and sister as a child. She graduated from Central Gwinnett High School as valedictorian of her class and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Georgia - Athens.

“Growing up I had a lot of different ideas of what I was going to do, but being a doctor was not at the top of the list,” Dr. Mrsic said. “I went to college as a biochemistry major with a desire to do research, but fell in love with the idea of helping people in a different way when I volunteered as an interpreter in a medical clinic.”

In her spare time, the Varnell resident can be found helping with the goats and cattle at her parents’ farm, or exploring local hiking trails with her dogs.
