Evelyn Palmer Curtis Hays passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025, in Woodstock, Georgia.

A native of Dawnville, Ga., Mrs. Curtis-Hays was the daughter of the late George Erwin Palmer and Ruby Wofford Palmer. She was preceded in death by Roy Lee Curtis – husband of Dalton (1952-1979), and Mark Hays Jr of Chattanooga (1984-1999).

She was also preceded in death by her daughter Pamela Curtis Ewton (1953-2012), and siblings Dewey Irwin Palmer, Hoyt Conley Palmer, Harriet Jeanette Palmer Manis, Mack Allen Palmer, Carolyn Joyce Palmer Wagner, James Buford Palmer, and Shirley Anne Palmer Hamblen.

Mrs. Curtis-Hays is survived by her son Michael L. Curtis, born in Lakeview, Ga., and now resides in Woodstock, Ga., with wife Lynn Daniel Curtis, a native of Athens, Ga. Other surviving family members are sister Mary Lou Palmer Bell of Leesburg, Fl.; grandson Brant Curtis of Atlanta; grandson Chad Curtis of Woodstock, Ga., along with great-grandchildren, Madilyn and Monroe Curtis and their mother Tammy Curtis; grandson Nathan Curtis with wife Lisa Rivard Curtis and great-grandchildren, Alex and Angel Curtis of Durham, NC, along with many other nieces, nephews, and stepchildren and grandchildren.

Evelyn graduated from Dawnville High School near Dalton, and later in life attended Chattanooga State University. Her professional years were spent at Coca-Cola Co of Dalton, GA, and 25 years at the Mueller Co. of Chattanooga where she retired. She also helped found The Curtis Products Company of Chattanooga with her husband Roy Curtis in 1965. That company, now in Atlanta, is celebrating its 60th year in 2025. Evelyn loved home crafts, flowers, and fashion and owned The Lalapalooza Fashon Store in East Brainerd for a number of years. Her hobbies included volunteering with the March-of-Dimes and helping raise funds for the Siskin Foundation. She loved reading anything by David Balducci, C.J. Box, and the Bible with her Baptist faith.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, at Lane Funeral Home and Crematory South Crest Chapel at 833 Chickamauga Ave., Rossville.

Following visitation, a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m.

Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens South at 325 Greenslake Road, Rossville, Ga. 30741.
