The Tennessee Vols surged near the end to take a hard-fought 74-70 SEC win at Texas on Saturday night.
Darlinstone Dubar came off the bench to score 12 points, including three triples and a slam late in the game.
Felix Okpara scored seven points and was a force around the goal.
The Vols were ahead 33-31 at the half on Rick Barnes' return to his former campus, but trailed much of the second half as freshman Tre Johnson poured in 26 points.
Tennessee was behind 54-49 before rallying on Zakai Ziegler layup and free throw, two Jordan Gainey foul shots and the Dubar dunk. Chaz Lanier hit an outside shot, Dubar connected on a three and Okpara had his slam and Tennessee was up 63-60 with 3:20 to go. A Gainey three pointer from the corner upped the lead to six.
After Texas added three points, Zeigler squirmed through for another layin.
Ziegler scored 16, while Lanier had 10.
The Vols improve to 15-1, 2-1, while Texas falls to 11-5, 0-3.
