The Hamilton County Election Commission met on Wednesday morning to finalize the ballot for the city of Chattanooga election on March 4, but early voting will be available at three locations prior to that date. Early voting will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 12, and end Thursday, Feb.y 27.
The locations will be:
Brainerd Chris L. Ramsey Sr. Community Center, Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Hixson Community Center, Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The Election Commission, 700 River Terminal Road, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
All locations will be closed Monday, Feb. 17, for Presidents Day.
The commissioners approved the standard practice of two commissioners, one from each party, holding a key to the absentee ballot boxes. They will be unlocked on election day.
Scott Allen, Hamilton County administrator of Elections, announced a change of location to two polling places:
The Wolftever Precinct will change the voting location from Bayside Baptist to the Harrison Community Center
The Murray Hills Precinct will no longer vote at St. Thaddaeus’ Episcopal Church and will move to the Olivet National Highway 58 Campus.
A random sampling will be made for newly registered voters, and will be done in the presence of one commissioner from each party. The Hamilton County Election Commission is required to do quarterly checks of 200 voters based on about 235,000 registered voters in the county.
