Thomas Rhea “Tommy” Shelton, 65, of Ringgold went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 9, 2025.

He was born on Oct. 29, 1959, to the late Lester and Shirley Shelton and grew up in the Fairview Community. He moved to Ringgold when he married the love of his life, Patricia Vandergriff Shelton.

Tommy graduated from Tennessee Temple High School and completed vocational classes regarding appliances. His career was manager of Baugh Appliance, and with his dedicated career he strived on customer service and helping others. Tommy retired in 2021 due to his health.

Family and friends brought enjoyment to his life. Tommy found comfort calling childhood friends, his church friends and friends from the church where he grew up, Fairview Baptist Church. He never met a stranger and had a caring and giving heart. He will forever be loved and his memory cherished.

He was a member of the East Ridge Church of Christ where he continued to support The Lads to Leaders program that he and Patricia lead and supported for many years.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years, Patricia; parents, Lester and Shirley Shelton; sister, Nancy Shelton Summers; and brother, Jimmy Shelton.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Susan Shelton Robinson and son-in-law, Brian Robinson, grandchildren, Julie Mae and Charlie Robinson, nephews, Scott Herpst and Jeff Herpst and special friend Sharon Fincher.

A special thank you to the CCU Team at Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care.

“A Celebration of Life” will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, at the East Ridge Church of Christ, 951 McBrien Road, East Ridge, Tn. with Minister Jack James officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Ridge Church of Christ Lads to Leaders program.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 4-6 p.m. at the church.
