John Charles Ford, 77, passed away on February 13, 2025.

John was born on Nov. 30, 1947 in Chattanooga to the late Alvin and Olive Ford. He was a graduate of East Ridge High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University. John worked as a gas terminal manager and retired from TransMontaigne after twenty years of service. John and his wife, Lequida (Lou), were members of Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

John’s favorite pastime was traveling, especially going to the beach. He was also a very giving person and always willing to lend a hand to his neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Gil Ford.

Left behind to cherish John’s memory are his wife of 34 years, Lou, his son, Michael Birk (Cathy), his daughter, Shelia Wingfield (Dennis), five grandchildren, Logan; Austin; Jordan; Brooke; and Jeremy, several nieces and nephews, and his best friend Bullit.

A Celebration of John's life will be held on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 3 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Joseph Mullins officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. and will have a reception for friends and family following the service at 4 p.m.
