The Collegiate Conference of the South released its Baseball and Softball Preseason polls on Thursday afternoon. Voting was conducted by Head Coaches across the league.
Covenant Baseball was selected sixth place while the Softball team was picked to finish seventh place.
The Baseball team is coming off a 16-26 (7-11 CCS) season in 2024. Some key players the Scots return include RHP Bryce Bollinger and INF Zeke Gilbert. Both will be in their fifth years with the team and were Second-Team All-Conference selections a year ago.
Covenant also returns the CCS Rookie Player of the Year, Sam Cecil, and the CCS Rookie Pitcher of the Year, Jonathan Glover to this year's team.
The Scots begin play on Feb. 14 for the first of three games at home against Greenville.
Covenant Softball begins the 2025 season under new Head Coach Dr. Bill Higley, after an 8-26 (5-11 CCS) record a year ago. Offensively, the Scots will lean on a trio of seniors in Olivia Stefl, Ashlyn Gaines, and Helena Nagy. All three players batted over .322 a season ago.
In the circle, the Scots will look to sophomore Madison Bowden and Lauren Edgar to throw lots of innings. Charley Clark, a transfer from Walters State Community College, is also a pitcher to keep an eye out for this year. Covenant also begins play on Feb. 14 as it travels to the MUW Invitational for four games in two days.
