The Hamilton County Coalition, the Drug Enforcement Administration and community partners will host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at locations across Southeast Tennessee on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Attendees will be able to dispose of unused, unwanted and expired medications, vape pens and e-cigarette devices.
For more than a decade, this event has helped Americans easily rid their homes of unwanted medications to ensure that meds aren’t improperly disposed in waterways or diverted for illicit use.
“We are so grateful that we are able to provide this service to our community,” says Hamilton County Coalition Executive Director Camilla Bibbs. “Keeping unneeded medication in the home is a safety risk that can be avoided by bringing them to a drop-off site on Drug Take Back Day.”
Drug Take Back Day offers free and anonymous disposal of medications at more than 4,000 local dropoff locations nationwide. The Hamilton County Coalition is partnering with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to host a total of 16 drop-off sites in Hamilton County and surrounding counties.
