Joe “Joey” Clifford Geren IV, 32, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Born on June 13, 1992, Joey was a beloved son, father, brother, cousin, and friend whose kind heart, strong spirit, and generous soul left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

We find peace in knowing that Joey had dedicated his life to the Lord, and we have faith that he is now resting in the arms of his Savior.

Joey graduated from Soddy Daisy High School and continued his education at Chattanooga State Technical College, where he proudly completed the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) program and earned his certificate of completion.

He built a career in the automotive industry and proudly worked for MSi Professional Services Group for nine years. During his time there, he held several key roles, including serving as a Team Lead and Supervisor at Volkswagen of Chattanooga. Through his dedication and leadership, he gained valuable experience and left a positive mark on every team he worked with.

However, the role Joey cherished most was the one he received eight years ago — being a father. His greatest pride and joy was his daughter, Mariah Faye Christian (age 8), often lovingly referred to as his “Mini Me.” Not only did she resemble him in appearance, but they shared an unbreakable bond. Joey found his greatest happiness in being her father, often taking her to Coolidge Park, enjoying simple moments like trips to Cici’s Pizza, and being her constant protector. Wherever Joey was, Mariah was close by. His most enduring legacy will be the unconditional love he poured into being her father.

Much of Joey’s strength, resilience, and drive to reach his greatest potential came from the unwavering love and encouragement of his mother, Donna Christian Lowe, and his father, Joe Clifford Geren III, who both stood by his side through life’s challenges and triumphs, always believing in him even when he struggled to believe in himself.

Joey was deeply loved by his parents, who never stopped believing in his heart, his goodness, and the beautiful life he had ahead of him.

Joey was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Barbara Faye Christian (“Mamaw”) and Daniel Thomas Christian Sr. (“Papaw”), who were instrumental in his life and upbringing. Daniel Thomas Christian Sr. proudly served as a retired Captain for the Chattanooga Fire Department. He was also preceded in death by his aunt, Carla Faye Christian Blancett, who held a special place in his heart.

Joey is survived by:

- His loving mother, Donna Christian Lowe, and stepfather, J. Marty Lowe;

- His father, Joe Clifford Geren III, and stepmother, Lana Geren;

- His younger brother and best friend through his mother’s marriage, Mason Kennedy Lowe (age 20);

- His younger siblings through his father’s marriage: Easton Geren (age 14) and Allie and Avery (age 8, twins);

- His daughter, Mariah Faye Christian (age 8), who was the light of his life.

He is also survived by his paternal grandfather, Colonel Joe Clifford Geren, who served honorably in the United States military, and his grandmother, Ann Geren (“Nana”). Both played special and significant roles in Joey’s upbringing, providing love, support, and unwavering encouragement throughout his life. His deep love and respect for his grandparents — Ann Geren (“Nana”), Colonel Joe Clifford Geren, Barbara Faye Christian (“Mamaw”), and Daniel Thomas Christian Sr. (“Papaw”) — left a lasting impact on his heart and character.

In addition, Joey is survived by many cousins who were more like siblings: Brandon Reisman, Bailey Reisman, Bethany Blancett, and Jacob Blancett — each of whom held a very special place in his heart — and by his aunt, Paula Christian-Floyd, and uncles, Daniel Thomas Christian Jr. and Mike Geren.

Joey was known for his big heart, quick wit, and fierce loyalty to those he loved. In high school, he played football and wrestled, treasuring the camaraderie and brotherhood that came with being part of a team. Outside of school, his passions included music, working on cars, and fixing just about anything — he had a rare gift for repairing what was broken, both in the garage and in the hearts of those around him.

If you knew Joey, you knew he was a straight shooter — he spoke the truth, wore his heart on his sleeve, and would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation.

Joey’s life was a beautiful, sometimes complex, but always honest journey of love, loyalty, and living life on his own terms. His spirit will live on through his daughter, his family, and all those who were blessed to know and love him.

Your mother and father will miss you every day and will hold onto the promise that we will be reunited with you in Heaven one day.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, May 3. Services will be in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, May 4, at 2 p.m.

Condolences and memories can be shared at www.williamsonandsons.com.

Arrangements entrusted to Williamson and Sons Funeral Home, 8852 Dayton Pike, Soddy Daisy, Tn. 37379.
