Wacker has announced that Robert Hardin, Ph.D., senior quality manager at the Wacker Polysilicon North America facility in Charleston, has been appointed president of the Board of Directors at the Tennessee Advanced Energy Business Council.

Before being appointed board president, Dr. Hardin, who has worked for Wacker for over 13 years, served nearly four years as a TAEBC board member. “Our board will provide strategic direction to the organization and the state as we adapt to a new national energy agenda, rapidly increasing power demand, and major technological advancements," said Dr. Hardin.

“Having WACKER at the table in the state where we have made our company’s single largest investment is a testament to the value we place on ensuring our operations can access quality, stable, and affordable energy for our customers,” said Dr. Christoph Kowitz, president and CEO of Wacker Chemical Corporation. “The TAEBC was among the organizations instrumental in attracting WACKER and many other global companies to the Volunteer State. Our talented team members contribute at a high level by serving on boards and councils that are catalysts for attracting companies and strengthening communities.”

“We are honored to have Robert Hardin of WACKER serve as the new president of the Tennessee Advanced Energy Business Council,” said Cortney Piper, executive director of TAEBC. "WACKER’s continued investment in innovation, sustainability, and advanced manufacturing underpins our advanced energy economy, and its continued investment in Tennessee showcases how advanced energy serves as an economic driver for the state. Under Robert’s leadership, we are confident TAEBC will continue to support the growth of our state’s advanced energy economy and strengthen Tennessee’s national reputation as a leader in advanced, innovative technologies.”
