Doyne Lynn Holder
Doyne Lynn Holder, 66, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1958, in Hamilton County, Oh., due to his parents traveling for work, but was a lifelong resident of Birchwood, Tn. Doyne was known by many titles: Dad, Daddy, Pop, Brother, Son, Uncle, Friend, Honey and Loving Husband. He graduated in 1976 from Birchwood High School and he went to technical school during his senior year to become a welder and a pipefitter. Doyne worked for TVA for 15 years and then retired from Chattanooga City Department of Education. He could often be found outdoors where he pursued a lifelong dream of dozing and cattle farming, and well as a hobby of purchasing tractors, cars, or anything of good trade. He attended Birchwood Church of God of Prophecy. Doyne enjoyed listening to The Word daily and visits from lifelong friends. He had an undeniable passion for helping those who could not help themselves, and his greatest joy was watching others work and spending quality time with his grandchildren. Even through Doyne’s trials and tribulations he always kept a smile and never complained. His family was a cornerstone of his life and he will be deeply missed. 2 Tim 4:7-8
Doyne was preceded in death by his parents, Lebron and Leolla Holder; brothers, Darwin and Karlin Holder; late wife, Sherry Smith Holder; daughter, Tabitha Holder; grandchildren, Talon Grissom, and Conner Lewis; father-in-law, Tag Holder; brother-in-law, Jim Holder, as well as several uncles and cousins.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife Rhonda Holder of 30 years; son, Justin Holder, Jason Lewis (Brooke), Cody Lewis (Hailey); daughter, Stephanie Carter (Brian); son-in-law, Tracy Grissom; grandchildren, Macie and Brody Grissom, Dylan and Clay Lewis, Maybelle and Payzlee Carter, Parker and Drake Lewis, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 15, from 1-8 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home. A visitation will also be held on Monday, June 16, from 12–4 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. in the chapel with speaker Ronnie Blaylock and Pastor Kenneth Nope officiating.
Pallbearers: Sammy Malone, Mike Tatum, Ronnie Tatum, Jason Lewis, Cody Lewis, Justin Holder, Russell Holder, Billy Griffin, Steve Lewis, William Browning, Ronald Neeley, Brian Carter, Danny Bishop, Brett Holder, and Chuck Duncan.
Doyne will be laid to rest in Holder Cemetery in Birchwood, TN.
