Carol Elizabeth Fentress Jude, age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Born in Gallatin, Tennessee, to Otis and Laura Fentress, Carol spent her early years in Gallatin and Nashville, where she received her education. She pursued her love of flowers as a florist before dedicating many years to caring for others as a home health nurse until her retirement.

In the early 1970s, Carol embraced her faith and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She devoted herself as a regular pioneer, wholeheartedly sharing Bible truths and the hope of the resurrection with everyone she met—a hope she treasured deeply. Together with her beloved husband, Roosevelt Jude Jr., Carol joyfully taught and encouraged many in their spiritual journey, helping numerous individuals reach the milestone of baptism.

Carol’s faith was matched by her warmth and lively spirit. She found joy in the door-to-door field ministry, loved to dance, travel, read—especially the Bible—and enjoyed good music. An exceptional cook, Carol delighted in preparing meals for family and friends, always making those around her feel welcome and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Otis Fentress Jr.; her son, Rober Cohen; and her grandson, Chaz Cohen.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 48 years, Roosevelt Jude Jr.; her sister, Thelma McHollin; her sons, Carlos (Cassanda) Cohen and Mural (Shirley) Cohen; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Ellis and Rita McClure; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a large spiritual family who cherished her dearly.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2121 Glass St., Chattanooga, Tn. 37406.

Carol’s loving kindness, faith and joyful spirit touched many lives and will be deeply missed.

Services entrusted to John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, 423-622-9995.
