Charles Melvin Wilson, 88, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025. He was born March 22, 1937, in East Ridge.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Melvin Wilson, a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and faithful servant of Christ. Melvin was a joyful and kind-hearted man whose life was a testament to his unwavering faith. He loved his family dearly and placed God at the center of everything he did. His days were filled with laughter, encouragement, and an ever-present love for others. He loved to make others smile and laugh. He would say often “my day is better because I got to see you.” He lived a life marked by generosity, humility, and grace. Melvin dedicated his life to serving the Lord and others through his ministry. He devoted himself to mission trips, Bible studies and as an elder at the Ooltewah Church of Christ. His commitment to his faith never wavered, and his legacy of service and devotion will live on through the lives he touched.

He was also a respected businessman who successfully opened and co operated Estes Trucking Company in Chattanooga. Through hard work and determination, he built a company that not only supported his family but became a trusted name in the local community today. Melvin leaves behind a family who adored him, looked up to him, cherished his wisdom and loved him a “bushel and a peck.” Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing that he has received the ultimate healing and is now resting in the arms of his Savior.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Charlotte Wilson, one son, Charles Stephen Wilson, two daughters, Tina Ann Costa (Mark), Karen Renee’ Arthur (Tim), four grandchildren, Timothy Arthur, Susan Howell (Denny), Elizabeth Reed (Jason), Rachel Zeagler (David) and six great grandchildren, Maylin Howell, Iyla Howell, Sawyer Reed, Emry Reed, Patrick Zeagler, and Ivy Zeagler.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, at Heritage Funeral Home East Brainerd Road Chapel with ministers Denny Howell and Tim Arthur officiating. Interment will follow service at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Heritage Funeral Home East Brainerd Road Chapel.
