Stovall, Jefferson T. "J.T."

Jefferson T. (J T) Stovall, 80, of Chattanooga, died on Sunday, November 20, 2005, surrounded by his family.

JT was born in Atlanta, GA, on October 17, 1925. He was a decorated veteran serving in the Navy aboard the USS Cree during World War II in battles at Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. JT served 20 years in the Civil Service after World War II.

He moved to Chattanooga in 1969 and founded Stovall of Chattanooga. JT was a member of Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church, East Point, GA.

Mr. Stovall was preceded in death by his wife, June Casteel Stovall; four brothers; one sister; a niece and nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Davis Stovall; children, Travis Jerry and wife Debbie Stovall, Jefferson Gary and wife, Doris Stovall and Linda June Stovall; grandchildren, Bambi Grant and husband, David, and Jay Stovall; three great grandchildren, all of Chattanooga; sister, Ann Sudduth, Marietta, GA; sister-in-law, Blanche Stovall, Douglasville, GA; several nieces and nephews; two stepchildren, Jon and wife Sandi Stepp, Russell and Eva Jean Davis; six step grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Larry Miller and Rev. P. B. Booth officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 4–8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
