Hinton, Ira Leon

Ira Leon Hinton, 68, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, in a local hospital.

He retired from DuPont and was a member of Orchard Knob Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Eunice Hinton.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Evelyn Hinton; sons, Van (Deandra) Hinton, Michael (Camillia) Walker and Reginald Hinton, all of Chattanooga; daughters, Dr. Ivora Hinton, of Charlottesville, VA, Eunice Hinton and Avi Johnson, all of Chattanooga; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Russell Hinton Jr., of New York City; sisters, Ruby Eagle, of Chicago, and Essie Hinton-Brown, of Chattanooga; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday at Orchard Knob Baptist Church with Pastor Harold K. Lester officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

The body will lie in state after noon Tuesday at Taylor Funeral Home.
