The colors of Autumn are beginning to appear along the banks of the Guntersville Reservoir and in the forests of Lake Guntersville Resort State Park. Sugar maples are tinted with soft to vibrant hues of red. Sumac is lining the roadsides with a fiery red while dogwoods and other hardwoods are chiming in with a slow progression of barn red, crisp yellow and autumn orange.
Viewing fall foliage from the Lodge at Lake Guntersville Resort State Park has been limited during the last four years. Renovations to the Lodge complex that includes a convention center, hotel and restaurant, began in March 2004, closing the Lodge until January 2008. The lofty heights of Taylor Mountain, where the lodge resides, are once again open to the public and offers up some of the most spectacular scenic panoramic vistas found in the mountains of north Alabama.
Make plans now to spend autumn in Lake Guntersville Resort State Park. Spend a day or a whole week exploring the waters, mountains and forests of this 6,000 acre paradise located in NE Alabama. Mother Nature is putting on a show and you won't want to miss a minute of her grand production. Act I is underway. Take the short drive over and watch as this award winning performance unfolds.
