Margaret Ann Otis “Granny,” 63, of Chattanooga, died on Monday, April 20, 2009.

She was a graduate of Riverside High School class of 1965 and attended Central State University in Ohio. She confessed Christ at an early age at Bethlehem Baptist Church. She attended Sharon Pentecostal Church until her health failed.

She united in marriage to the late James Otis in 1970 and from this union was born two children. She was loved deeply by her extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezra and Nellie Mathis; brothers, Edward Mathis and Ezra Mathis Jr., and sister, Joyce Mathis.

She is survived by her son, James Otis Jr. and daughter, Barbara (Bobby) McCrary of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Anneshia Otis, Demitric Otis and Demarcus Otis, all of Chattanooga, and Thomas Otis of Huntsville, Al.; brothers, Leon (Ruby) Mathis, Ernest Mathis, both of California; Jack (Annie Ruth) Mathis of Chattanooga; sisters, Evelyn (Ellis) Thornhill, Mary Mathis, Mildred (Gatha Sr.) Logan, all of Chattanooga; Patricia (Preston) Green of Virginia; special god-son, Vincent (Cicely) Thomas of Huntsville, Al.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, at Sharon Pentecostal Church with Pastor JoAnn Walker officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6–7 p.m. on Saturday at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
