Chopsticks Buffet is located at 5611 Ringgold Road. This was the long-ago home of The Acropolis for those of you familiar with East Ridge.
For the price, this is a pretty decent buffet. It isn’t large by any means, but what they offered on the day we were there was not bad at all. Even though it is small, everything was fresh and well prepared (of course this could change on a daily basis). They weren’t full, but at this point not many people are aware of their existence. I would estimate it was a little more than half full of customers.
Our visit was for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Chopsticks features the usual soups – hot ‘n sour, egg drop, and won ton. Most of the items on the buffet are the common dishes found on most every buffet in town – egg rolls, Hunan beef, sesame chicken, seafood delight, pork with broccoli and fried wontons to name a few.
I thoroughly enjoyed the salt & pepper shrimp. Some buffets leave the tails on and when they use small shrimp, it’s difficult to get the tail off without losing half the shrimp. I always feel I am wasting food when that happens. These are already removed, basically no breading, and not at all mushy and/or soggy (as we have found some to be). We noted there was a constant check on the buffet, keeping it well-stirred and replenished.
Chopsticks has a separate buffet to the side featuring shrimp-in-the-shell, salads and desserts. They have delicious serve-yourself ice cream from a cooler against the back wall. It is not the soft serve, but rather the scoopable, featuring several different flavors such as cookies ‘n cream and black cherry on this particular day.
They also have a full menu if you prefer not to partake of the buffet. Some of the house specials are General Tso’s Chicken, Orange Flavored Chicken, and Hot and Spicy Shrimp. Prices for house specials range from $7.25 to $8.50. Combination platters served from 3:30 PM to10:00 PM (served with pork fried rice and egg roll) are $5.75. Lunch specials from the menu include the pork fried rice and a choice of egg roll or soup for $4.25.
The only thing I missed not having were oysters. But with the prices they offer, I’m certain the offering of oysters would cause that to be raised. Prices at Chopsticks are very reasonable. Lunch buffet - $4.99, dinner - $6.99, and all day on Sunday is $5.99.
Hours for Chopsticks Buffet are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday until 10 p.m. They are closed on Monday. If you are looking for a nice, clean, friendly Chinese buffet, that is small with your basic offerings for an extremely reasonable price, I say this is the place to visit.
