A powerful late afternoon tornado in Trenton, Ga. brought extensive damage and caused some serious injuries and at least two deaths. Authorities early on said two men died in two separate residences.

A triage area was set up at the First Baptist Church of Trenton to deal with the most seriously hurt and to serve as a shelter. Some 100 people were at the church on Wednesday night, though the church was without power.

The Trenton Gas Company was extensively damaged.

The Edgewood townhomes took a direct hit from the powerful storm.

Lisa Rice of Rising Fawn said she was at her tanning salon in Trenton when word came of the tornado. She said she and her two daughters crowded into a tanning bed. The roof and back wall of the business were torn off.
