A 75-year-old East Brainerd woman found dead in her home on Saturday was strangled with an electrical cord, according to the medical examiner's report.
Visitation for JoAnne Moore DeShay is Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. The funeral is Friday at 2 p.m. at the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel on East Brainerd Road.
The cord used was from a vacuum cleaner.
The victim's body was found by a relative at the residence on Marco Circle.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Ms. DeShay was a graduate of Central High School and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Floy Moore; sister, Pat Cason; brother, Bob Moore and husband, Don DeSha Sr.
Survivors are her daughter, Kimberly DeSha (Aaron) Crowder, Chattanooga; son, Don H. (Hilda) DeSha Jr., Harriman, TN; Grandchildren, Kathryn “Katy”(fiancé, James Sansom) McKinney and Gary Joseph (Christy) Mullins; great-grandchildren, Austin and Will; Aunt, Rose Wilborn, Ringgold, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
