Reba Nina Ketner Gibbs, 89, of Rossville, died on August 13, 2013.  

She was a native and longtime resident of Catoosa County, born on March 13, 1924. 

She was a retired educator and musician having a B.A degree from the University of Chattanooga, a B.S. degree from Jacksonville State Teachers College in Alabama, and a M.A. degree from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  

She taught in Business Education/Secretarial Science a total of 33 years at Lakeview High School in Rossville, Ider High School in DeKalb County, AL, Mortimer Jordan High School in Birmingham, and retired from Dalton Junior College in Dalton, GA in 1984 with 16 years of service.  

Mrs. Gibbs taught piano and other instruments for 27 years.  She played piano and organ in area churches, in area gospel singings, and played for Gospeltone Quartet, Birmingham, a total of more than 60 years.  Mrs. Gibbs was a member of the Boynton Church of God.  

She was the only daughter to the late George and Alma Norrell Ketner and was also preceded in death by her husband, P. Erskine Gibbs; and an infant brother.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Mrs. Mildred Gibbs; aunts, Mrs. Myrtle Gilbreath and Mrs. Irene Norrell; and several cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 15, at 3 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Donnie Fine officiating.

Interment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 4-8 p.m., and Thursday, from noon until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
