BASF chemical company, is bringing its award-winning Kids’ Lab program to Orchard Knob Elementary School in celebration of National Chemistry Week (Oct. 17-24). Students will be exploring how chemistry colors the world by making homemade lava lamps.
The lab will be held on Thursday from 9-11 a.m. at Orchard Knob Elementary School, 2000 E 3rd St.
Officials said, "BASF and Orchard Knob Elementary School have been partners in chemistry education for more than 30 years. BASF Kids’ Lab is a global program for children (ages 6 – 12) creating fun with chemistry and encouraging kids to explore the connections between chemistry and the world around them through safe and engaging, hands-on experiments."
Kids’ Lab was first established at BASF’s global headquarters in Germany in 1997 and currently engages more than 472,000 kids in 35 countries worldwide. BASF operates two facilities in Chattanooga, employing 130 local workers. The sites produce polymer dispersions used in adhesives, carpet backing, foams, paper coatings and asphalt modifiers.
