Members Phyllis Carter and Nancy Larson of the Judge David Campbell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution from Chattanooga visited McConnell Elementary School. They spoke to five classes of first graders with a total of 90 children.

They learned rules of flag etiquette and how to place your right hand across you heart when you say the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.  Mrs. Larson read a story on the Pledge of Allegiance.  They also talked about first responder heroes in their community. The children answered many questions and were interested in what was being taught.

The children were delighted to receive a small American flag of their very own.  They had a great time marching around the cafeteria waving their flags before returning to their classes, said the DAR members.
