Soddy Daisy Postmaster Charged In City Officer's Death Is Released On Bond

The Soddy Daisy Postmaster who is charged in the traffic death of a city police officer was released on bond on Wednesday afternoon.

Officials said, "At approximately 1:30 p.m., Janet Hines was turned over to the Hamilton County Pre-Trial Services Program.

She is no longer in custody at Silverdale Detention Facility. She will be supervised by Pre-Trial Services personnel under her court-ordered conditions of bond."

Those include house arrest and transdermal alcohol monitoring.

After a lengthy hearing on Tuesday, General Sessions Court Judge Alex McVeach lowered her bond to $153,000 from $300,000.

She is charged with running over rookie officer Nicholas Galinger on the night of Feb. 23 on Hamill Road in Hixson.
