A body was found after fire destroyed a house in the Hurricane Creek Subdivision Tuesday afternoon.
At approximately 2:50 pm, law enforcement and fire personnel were called to the Hurricane Creek Subdivision to 707 Stone Crest Circle for the report of a residential garage fire.
The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene reporting a fully-involved garage fire.
During the course of fighting the fire, firefighters located what they believed to be a body in the residence, but due to structural safety concerns, were unable to confirm. Once the fire was extinguished, fire investigators with the HCSO and Tri Community Fire Department began an investigation.
During the course of the initial investigation, fire Investigators were able to confirm the location of a body inside the residence. The remains were removed from the residence and have since been turned over to the medical Examiner’s Office for identification.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending identification and eventual notification of next of kin.
Tri-Community VFD fire officials reported a woman had driven over the fire hose and bent the coupling attached to additional fire hose. As a result, firefighters had to replace the damaged firehose. As a result, this delayed water getting to the house fire. The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office reported the woman will receive consequences for her actions.
Tri-Community VFD confirmed the fire started in the garage. No injuries were reported but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to the firefighters.
The house is a total loss and damages are listed at $250,000. The homeowner will be staying with friends.
