John Thompson
John A Thompson, 69, of Murfreesboro, formerly of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, died on Thursday, June 6, 2019.
The son of the late John and Margie Knight Thompson, he was a retired employee of TVA having worked in their Chattanooga office as a software program manager. He loved to travel to the Smoky Mountains and Bar Harbor, Maine and had a deep love of music. His passion for music was most evident in his extensive collection of vinyl records. His positive, determined outlook was an inspiration. Throughout his cancer treatments and recurrence, he remained optimistic and a fighter until the end.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Eller of Murfreesboro; children, John-Paul Thompson and Erek Thompson both of Murfreesboro, Shawn Thompson of Chattanooga, and Noah Thompson of California; sister, Brenda Thompson (Steve) Nelms of South Pittsburg; nieces, Jamie (Stephen) Harrison of Hixson, and Stephanie (Tom) Boggs of South Pittsburg; several other relatives and friends.
A gathering for friends and family will be held at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg on Saturday, June 8, from 4–7 p.m. Central time.
