Doris Brown Parks, 80, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020, at her residence.
Doris was born on Nov. 6, 1939, in Chattanooga, to the late Dorothy and Sandy Brown, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Leroy Parks; her brother, Joseph Richard Brown and grandmother, Eva Shirley Brown.
Doris gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a dedicated member and deaconess at Mt. Peria Baptist Church, Ringgold, Ga.
She attended Howard High School and she retired first from Bell South and later from J.C. Penney Department Store.
Doris leaves to cherish her memory her children: Darolyn (Vernon) Porter of Clarksville, Tn.; Selestene (Andrew) Womble of Chattanooga; Roderick (Karen) Parks of Lithonia, Ga., and Tangie (Darren) Cawthon of Newport News, Va.; grandchildren, Chateeka Farris of Memphis,Tn., Michael Parks of Lithonia, Ga., Roderick L. (Kim) of Acworth, Ga., Dori Parks of Lithonia, Ga., Darrien Cawthon of Newport News, Va., and Danielle Porter of Clarksville, Tn. and Brian (Dana) Womble of Chattanooga; great-grandchildren, Jayda Farris of Memphis, Roderick Charles Parks of Acworth, Ga., and Brianna Womble of Chattanooga; two nephews, Larry Parks, Knoxville, and Dewayne (Muriel) Brown of Chattanooga, numerous cousins and many friends, special friends Edna and Jimmie Pringle.
Public viewing will be held on Saturday, May 23, from 2-5 p.m. at John P. Franklin funeral home. Funeral services will be held privately.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Hearth Hospice and her nurse, Cindy Lewis for the loving care shown to Doris during her final days.
