U.S. Army Veteran Retired From DuPont After 40 Years

James Calvin Frederick, 85, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, entered into heaven on July 5, 2020.

He was a graduate of Soddy Daisy High School and served in the United States Army. He retired from DuPont after 40 years of service. Calvin was a lifetime member of the Daisy Masonic Lodge. He was an avid bluegrass fan and loved nature, camping and exploring country backroads. He enjoyed bird watching, listening to his beagles run a rabbit and the Atlanta Braves. Calvin loved his family and celebrated life. He was easy going, quick witted, never met a stranger and gave the best hugs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Herbert Frederick and Gladys Crowe Frederick; two brothers, Otis (Carolyn) Frederick and Fred (Brenda) Frederick; two sisters, Beatrice Johnston and Glendora Frederick.

Calvin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Melba Penney Frederick; son, Jimmy (Gwenn) Frederick of Chatsworth, Ga; and daughter Melanie (Adam) Driver of Hixson; two sisters, Pauline (Charles) Grant and Freda Wilson.

The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Thursday, July 9.

Graveside services will be 12 p.m. on Thursday at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Jason Brown officiating.
