Reverend William “Billy” Fowler, 91, of Flintstone, Georgia, went home to glory on Saturday, January 16, 2021 after an extended illness. 

 

Reverend Fowler was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia area where he was a preacher of the gospel for 68 years.  He pastored and was a member of Calvary Church of God on 7th Avenue in Chattanooga.  Reverend Fowler was also a carpenter who built two churches and many houses throughout the years, including the house he made a home with his family.   He was a United States Army veteran and he was known for his television show and radio show on WRIP radio for 15 years.  Reverebd Fowler was a very caring person who loved his family and his church family dearly.  If he found out that you did not have a ride to church he would pick you up and bring you.  He was loved by many.

 

He was preceded in death by his son, David Fowler; daughter, Sandra Fowler; parents, Will and Mae Fowler; brother, Sidney Fowler; and sisters, Betty McKeel and Lois Hennessee.

 

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Wilma Fowler; children, Kenneth (Becky) Fowler, Deborah (Joey) Llewellyn, Rhonda (Scott) Gay, and Daniel (Amanda) Fowler, 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In memory of Reverend Fowler, donations may be made to Calvary Church of God at 3613 7th Ave., Chattanooga, Tn. 37407.

 

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Steve Swaggerty officiating.  Webcasting will be available on the funeral home website.

 

Interment will follow in the Boydston Cemetery in Tiftonia.

 

The family will receive friends Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
