Katherine Wallace Schropshire born May 27, 1949, in Chattanooga, TN, to Steve and Emma Wallace. Sadly, on Monday, October 18, 2021, after 21 years of battling cancer, her heavenly father called her home, her fight was over. She can now rest; she fought the battle strong making it look easy.

Katherine graduated from Howard High School in 1967 and attended City College. Her first job was at Fehn’s Restaurant with her mom, Emma Wallace. Following that, she accepted a job at AT&T, as a telephone operator. Kat left AT&T to travel with her devoted husband, Gill Schropshire, who was in the Military. Upon their return to Chattanooga, she worked at BCBST. Her last position was as a Public Librarian for the City of Chattanooga, from which she retired. Kat was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She would light up and those beautiful eyes would sparkle when she came around to see us. If she was feeling down, the sight of her family would make it all go away. Katherine battled cancer for 21yrs, showing her strength and determination to push through. She has beat so many odds and did it gracefully.  She is our "STRONG BLACK WIFE, MOTHER, & GRANDMOTHER." You always saw her with that gorgeous smile and full of life and energy. She was the "Life of the Party." Rest Easy, Beautiful.

Preceding her in death, father, Steve Wallace; brother, Clarence Wallace; niece, Shalonda Wallace; father-in-law, Charles Schropshire; mother-in-law, Eddie Louise Schropshire; and sister-in-law, Elyse Schropshire.

Loved ones left to cherish her wonderful memories, her devoted husband of 49 years, Gill Schropshire, who was blessed to spend 51 glorious years with Kat; a son, Kevin Schropshire (longtime companion, Keisha Camon); daughter, Sharia (Vincent) Blake; mother, Emma Wallace; brother, Freddie Wallace; grandchildren, Da'Nairria Fletcher, Vaniesia Martin, Jeriyah Schropshire, Mikayla Blake, Shamond Fletcher, Arianna Blake, Kantrell Blake and Ve'Asia Blake; great-grandchildren, Kanya Martin and Khaelin Martin; sister-in-law, Vnita Qualls; a host of other family and friends.

Public viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at noon, Friday, Oct. 29, at the funeral home chapel.

Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Arrangements are by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 423 622-9995.
