U.S. Army Veteran Served During Desert Storm

Evangelist Pinkie Boddy died on November 24, 2021.

She was born in Catherine, Al., on July 17, 1946, to Lindell and Palmetto Jones. During her childhood years, the family moved to Chattanooga.

Pinkie, at a very young age, proclaimed her faith in Christ and accepted Him as her Lord and Savior. Her decision to relocate to Nashville was based on her love and devotion for her family.

Pinkie was a 1964 graduate of Howard High School. She continued her education at City College and earned her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from the University of Chattanooga in Tennessee and became a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Pinkie enjoyed doing her flower creations, decorating, coordinating, and working with finances as the Owner and Operator of PJ Florals and Crafts in Chattanooga. Her employment history also includes the Tennessee Valley Authority in Chattanooga.

Her military career includes over 30 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, her duties included administrator offFinance, active duty in Desert Storm and retiring as a master sergeant.

After relocating to Nashville, Pinkie became a faithful member at the New Metropolitan Christian Missionary Baptist Church, for over 14 years, and was a dedicated teacher of the Enrichment Class.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lindell Jones, Jr., daughter, Magdalena “Polly” Boddy-Jackson, grandson, Timothy L. Jackson II, former husband, Charles Boddy.

She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Palmetto Hall, Chattanooga, son, Ivin Pointer, Washington, DC, daughters, Charleeta and Pamela Boddy, Antioch, Tn., grandson, Ivin Pointer Jr, Washington, DC, granddaughters: Jadeah, Alayah, and Tijara Jackson, all of Antioch, Tn.,
brothers, Rev. Ralph Jones and Min. Frank (La’Nita) Jones of Chattanooga, sisters, Sarah Jones, Bronx, NY; Larcenia Custer and Pauline Hines of Chattanooga; and a host of other loving relatives, church family members, and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, Dec. 3, from 8-8:45 a.m. with funeral to follow at funeral home. Burial will be in Middle Tennessee, State Veterans Cemetery.
