Longtime Chattanooga Radio Broadcaster Was U.S. Army Veteran

Longtime Chattanooga radio broadcaster Charlie Nicholson, 85, of Chattanooga, passed away on December 6, 2021.

Mr. Nicholson had worked for WDYN, WDOD and WDEF radio stations. 

He was a close friend of Mr. Tom Sneed working at the radio station. He was a graduate of McCallie School. Charlie was a veteran of the United States Army. Charlie was a longtime member of Highland Park Baptist Church and his favorite preacher was Dr. Lee Roberson. He'd been a member of Tiftonia Baptist Church for the last few years. Charlie's favorite song was Flying High by the Lewis Family. He played it over and over. He was an avid UTC football and basketball fan and reported on UTC Sports for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Anna Nicholson.

A Celebration of Charlie’s Life will be held on Friday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. at Tiftonia Baptist Church. There will be a receiving of friends at the church beginning at 12 p.m. until service time. He will be laid to rest in the Forest Hills Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist East Chapel, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tn. 37412.
