Royal Wayne Hall, Senior

Royal Wayne Hall, Senior, well known as “Pop” passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Monday, December 6, 2021.

Wayne was the son of the late Robert Virgil and Golden Adell Hall. He was born on July 7, 1933 in De Kalb, Texas before moving to Dalton, Ga. where he married his true love Thelma Estes Hall on Dec. 8, 1951. His beloved wife preceded him in death on May 22, 2018 after 66 ½ years of marriage but he loved her every day of his life, up until he went to be with Jesus two days before their 70th anniversary.

Pop was the owner of Wayne Hall Painting in Dalton for more than 50 years and a member of the Church of God Union Assembly, Cohutta. He was also a 50+ year member of the Tunnel Hill Mason Lodge #202.

Wayne was most proud of his five children, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was the very definition of a grandfather, both to his family and to those who adopted him and called him “Pop”. Wayne was a giant of a man--not in stature--but in character, love, and grace and his life cast a long shadow of the love of Christ, that he sought so diligently to reflect, over all who knew him. To know him was to love him.

Wayne was a painter and farmer by trade. He was well known for his beautiful yard, bountiful garden, and plenty of meat he had raised in the freezer. He was a lifelong Braves fan and was content to go home to be with Jesus once he’d seen them win the World Series one more time.

He loved Jesus with all his heart and had a beautiful singing voice that he often used to praise Him. He and his wife spent many years traveling to churches across the South singing gospel music.

Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Tessa Hall Hackney; and brothers and sisters, Robert Hall, Jr, Billy Hall, Olin Ray Hall, Verbenia Eubanks.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Quinn (Lamar) of Tunnel Hill; son, Wayne Hall, Jr. (Sheryl Stanley) of Dalton; daughter, Ramona Pangle (Sandy) of Cohutta; daughter, Cristinia Williams (Matthew) of Varnell, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as siblings Helen Hall, Edward (Mary), Jimmy Hall, and sisters-in-law Genearl Hall and Ann Hall.

Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home. Pastor Colton Kitchens will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Love Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials in his name be made to The Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or The American Brain Tumor Association (www.abta.com).
