Angela Salman Ankar, 67, of Chattanooga, passed away on July 20, 2021, at home with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Khalil and Najla Salman, May 24, 1954, in Jerusalem. Angela graduated from Talitha Kumi High School in 1973 and is a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

She married Victor Ankar in 1974, and they lived together in Ramallah, Palestine before relocating to Chattanooga.  Angela is survived by her husband, Victor Ankar, four children: Charley (Misa), Ronny (Jenna), Bobby (Kailey) and Christina Ankar, all of Chattanooga. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Arianna, Charley, Sloane, Reese, and Benjamin and her three sisters Nora (Shehadeh), Maha (Ibrahim), and Eva (Saliba) of Jerusalem along with many nieces and nephews.

Angela was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.  She immigrated to the United States with her husband determined to provide her family with only the best opportunities. If you knew her, you knew you would never leave her home hungry.  Nothing gave her greater joy than feeding friends and family.  She was hilarious and had an infectious laugh that would light up a room.  Her family was her world, and we take comfort in knowing she will be a beautiful angel watching over us.

A private rosary service and funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Charles Burton and Father Alex Wraska officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
