Brenda Valerie Gilson, 78, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, for the last 44 years, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at a local hospital.

She was a homemaker, and was a dedicated mother and wife, and was married to the love of her life, Daniel Gilson for 61 years. Mrs. Gilson was a member of Candies Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Darl Mayle; and mother, Winifred Mayle Gilson.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Gilson; children, Troy Gilson and husband, Andrew Thomas Eckford of Cleveland, Tracy Gilson and wife, Janet, of Louisville, TN, and Mike Mayle of Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Christopher Gilson, Jeffrey Gilson, Laura Gilson, David Gilson, Rachel Murray, Deanna Franklin, David Gilson; great-grandchildren, Eleanor Gilson, Lilyth Gilson, Colton Gilson, Alexander Gilson, and Henry Franklin; brother, Darl Mayle of Cleveland; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, Aug. 3, at 3 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev. Stan Gibson officiating. Interment will be at Candies Creek Baptist Church. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will follow.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service.
