George Militon Phinizey, Jr., 72, of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, in the Hospice Care Center.  

 

He was a member of Olivet Baptist Church.

 

George was preceded in death by his mother, Callie H. Bryson; father, George Phinizey, Sr.; son, Terrance Lamont Phinizey; and brother, Scott L. Phinizey.

 

Survivors include his sons, Christopher L. Phinizey and Corey George Milton Phinizey, both of Chattanooga; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas H. Phinizey, of Chattanooga; uncles, Elbert Lee Gay, of Union City, CA, and Robert W. Gay, of Detroit, MI; aunts, Priscilla Wallace of Chattanooga, and Cecelia Brooks, of Lithonia, Georgia; special friend, Theresa Gilmore and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

 

George will lie in state on Monday, Dec. 24, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 12:30 p.m. with Brother John R. Taylor, Sr., as the eulogist.

 

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2 p.m.
