The Tennessee Sports Writers Association announced its 2021 All-State football teams in the 3A, 2A and 1A classifications on Wednesday. The Chattanooga area garnered 13 student-athletes on the list with Class 1A state champion South Pittsburg claiming six spots, closely followed by Class 4A’s Meigs County with four.

Marion County, Polk County and Signal Mountain each had one player tapped for the superlative honor.

The Pirates, who defeated McKenzie, 24-21, the title game at Finley Stadium, saw players on both sides of the ball named.
On offense, senior quarterback Richard Hunter led the way, along with running back DeAndre Kelly and wide receiver Reginald Hunter, both seniors. Sophomore kicker Cooper Keown was honored, as well.

Defensively, South Pittsburg was well represented by two senior lineman, Gio Davis and Josiah Huntley.

In 2A, Meigs County picked up four honorees. Senior quarterback Logan Carroll was tabbed on offense, along with teammate Cameron Huckabey, a senior wide receiver.

Defensively, the Tigers were repped by junior lineman Dalton Purgason and senior linebacker Ben Smith.
Marion County senior Taye Hutchins was selected as an athlete on offense and Colby Maynor, a Polk County senior, was named at kicker.

The lone area selection in Class 3A was Signal Mountain’s Aiden Adkins, a senior linebacker.

The Division II teams will be announced tomorrow.
